Says that We Need to Flip the 55th District to Pass Reproductive Health Act
October 11, 2018 (Rochester, NY) -- Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul traveled to Rochester to announce her endorsement of Jen Lunsford for State Senate in New York's 55th District. At a press conference held in Susan B. Anthony Square, Lt. Governor Hochul pledged her support of Jen Lunsford and 56th District candidate Jeremy Cooney.
"Now more than ever, we need new leadership in the New York State Senate... Jen Lunsford is an individual who has dedicated her life to helping people with disabilities...I think she is going to be an incredible State Senator, based on her life experiences but also the depth of passion that I can feel in her body. And those are the kind of leader we need to step forward and be our Senator in the State of New York."
In a press release sent prior to the event, the Lt. Governor stated that "[W]e need the rightful Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins leading the State Senate to work with us to finally advance long-stalled priorities like the Reproductive Health Act, expanding voting rights and criminal justice reform...And this election is unique with the amount of women stepping up to run for office, and I know what it's like firsthand to turn a competitive seat from Red to Blue."
